Save Tibet on the WEB
It takes all kinds of people to Save Tibet. With the web, you can support the Tibet Movement with a few clicks of a mouse and a VISA card number. Here are just a few of the international Tibet Support Groups that are worthy of your support, each one has its own specialty in the Tibet Movement.
- International Tibet Independence Movement (ITIM), rangzen.com: E-mail campaigns, plans marches, hosts Tibetan monks, gives aid to Tibetans in the US. Located in Indiana.
- Tibet Justice Center (formerly International Committee of Lawyers for Tibet), tibetjustice.org: human rights law and advocacy, publishing reports and journals. Located in Northern California.
- International Campaign for Tibet (ICT), savetibet.org: Ongoing campaigns for release of Tibetan political prisoners, lobbying politicians. Located in Washington D.C.
- Students for a Free Tibet (SFT), studentsforafreetibet.org: 650 chapters world wide, ongoing campaigns and protests, British Petroleum/Arco, Panchen Lama, '08 Beijing Olympics. Located in NYC.
- US Tibet Committee, ustibet.org: Since 1977, protecting Tibet from PRC 'development schemes', goal to restore independence to Tibet, '08 Olympics.
- Tibet Fund, tibetfund.org: The principal fund raising organization for the Tibetan people, non-profit, founded with the guidance of His Holiness the Dalai Lama in 1981.
- Tibetan Sponsorship Project, tibetaid.org, coordinates sponsoring of Tibetan monks, nuns, students, former political prisoners.
- Free the Drapchi 14, drapchi14.org/drapchi14/: Fourteen nuns were imprisoned in Drapchi Prison, in Lhasa, Tibet. They were jailed for taking part in peaceful demonstrations in Tibet, between 1989 and 1992. All of the demonstrations were non-violent, involving less than half a dozen people and lasting less than five minutes. The have become known collectively as the Drapchi 14.
